007 First Light
A few days ago, I finished 007 First Light. I loved it. It took about sixteen hours to get through, which I binged over two days, a first for me.
I was initially skeptical of the game, even with its high ratings. I compared it to the Hitman games, which I enjoyed, but many reviews said they were nothing alike. 007 First Light is a linear narrative experience—you're playing through a movie. There's only one way to achieve the objective.
I'm very grateful I decided to give it a shot. The game is fantastic. It's visually stunning, the environments and character design are top-notch, and the mechanics feel great. It runs quite smoothly, too. The tutorial is the best tutorial I have ever played through. I loved the gadget system. Both stealth and loud scenes were done well. I could not praise the game more.
If I had to point out one bad thing, though, it's how obvious the game makes everything. The paths you're meant to take are made very clear to you, and it's useless to try anything else. Much of the game is spent walking from one point on the HUD to another. It will not leave you alone to figure things out, which is a shame. Bond will talk to himself all the time with what you're supposed to do next.
Don't let that deter you from playing, though. If you're unsure, grab a copy from an alternative source, and then get it on Steam if you liked it!
Thanks for reading, and have a wonderful week.
